The new addition to our line of
spore testing is the self-contained biological indicator (BI) ampoules
for steam sterilization. This cost-effective test is comparable to other similar products and allows you to process your own
spore testing in your own office (see the simple instructions below).
The ampoules are packaged 25 per box and require a small tabletop
incubator which can be purchased separately. This is the most
cost-effective method to test your sterilizer.
NOTE: Some states require third-party laboratory spore testing for
table-top sterilizers.

Description:
Self-contained biological indicator (BI) for use in Steam or Ethylene
Oxide sterilization processes. Each test is made up of a plastic
container with cap, a crushable glass ampoule inside with recovery
media, and a paper strip inoculated with spores. Simple to use:
Place in center of sterilizer load, run normal sterilizer cycle, crush
the ampoule and incubate it for 24 hours for steam (Brown Cap) or 48
hours for Ethylene Oxide(Green cap) Results:
Color change to yellow or any turbidity in the ampoule indicates a
Positive test (sterilizer failure). Retesting is required. Three
consecutive tests should be done following a Positive test; all should
have Negative results (no growth) before using the sterilizer.

Simple and easy to use:
- Place the
ProTest ampoule into the center of the sterilizer load
or in a PCD (Process Challenge Device). Run the sterilizer cycle as
usual.
- After removing it from the sterilizer,
let the ampoule cool for 10 minutes. Then crush the sides of the
ampoule and place it into the tabletop incubator.
- Results: If the ampoule remains
a purple color, all spores have been destroyed. A failed test is
indicated by turbidity and a color change to yellow. The load should
not be released until sterilization is confirmed.
- Document the results in the sterilizer

Description: The
“In-Office Testing-Plus” program utilizes the same In-Office Testing
described above using ProTest ampoules but also includes a Monthly
Third-Party “Economy Program”. The separate mail-in spore test (used
each month) will provide documented test reports from our independent
laboratory, providing additional protection to your clients and staff
and most importantly, protection for your company should litigation
occur. Use the less-expensive In-Office Testing to test your
sterilizer daily or weekly (meeting The CDC, AAMI and The Joint
Commission’s recommendations) and mail-in the spore test kit to our
laboratory once a month. You will also receive a wall certificate for
your front lobby to inform your clients that you monitor your
sterilizer using a Third-Party laboratory. (Some State health
departments mandate third-party verification in the tattoo and body
piercing industry).
